Bunte Briefe

Bunte Briefe (Colorful Letters) is a pen pal project between seniors and immigrants with the goal of fostering the community building and deepening interpersonal relationships.

The project offers the opportunity to build new relationships, share life experiences and memories, and improve the writing skills in German.

We would like the exchange of letters to be followed by an opportunity for a face-to-face meeting and a long-term friendship that will remain after participation in this project.

Would you like to participate?

The Pen pal project is open to anyone who meets the following statements:

You enjoy writing letters, are looking for new contacts and are open to meeting new people, or would like to improve your written German.
You have time to write letters regularly
You have knowledge of German and are able to write a letter and respond to it

Here's how it works:

Fill out our Participant form
With the help of the form and questions about interests and hobbies we find a penfriend for you.
We’ll send you a Welcome letter together with envelopes and paper so you are ready to write your first three letters. We will also cover the postage costs.
You can send your first letter to your penfriend and a new friendship can start!

Maintain the pen pal relationship regularly and let us know if everything works.

Just like a tandem bicycle, it takes two people to move forward. So it is with writing! Be a tandem team and take good care of each other!
